Next 1st of June (11:50 to 12:35 GMT+2) in the framework of the Barcelona Olfaction Week (BOW) Dr. Matthias Vey, IFRA’s Vice President for Scientific Affairs, will give an overview of the fragrance industry’s global safe use program, the IFRA Standards. He will explain the role of the Standards and the process by which theare developed.  

The focus will be on the 49th Amendment, launched in January 2020, which integrates new data, new methods and new product types and represents the biggest changes to the Standards in many years. He will further address latest activities on the extended list of fragrance allergens to inform consumers about their presence in cosmetic products in Europe.  

As part of the III Barcelona Olfaction Congress, the objective of the session is to address the important developments affecting the fragrance industry – 49th Amendment to the IFRA Standards and revised consumer information policy on fragrance allergens in the EU.
