16 SEP | The Beauty Cluster and AINIA bring nutricosmetics closer to the sector

Valencia, September 16, 2022. The conference on “Nutricosmetics: Trends, claims and innovation” took place last Thursday, September 15, at the AINIA technology center where more than 70 professionals from the sector met. This conference focused exclusively on nutricosmetics has been organized by the Beauty Cluster together with AINIA, which invited all attendees to take a guided tour of its technology center at the end of the conference.

The institutional welcome was given by Cristina Del Campo, CEO of AINIA Technological Center and Ivan Borrego, General Director of the Beauty Cluster.

During the day, different topics related to nutricosmetics were presented. Marisa Ferré, Innovation Specialist at the Beauty Cluster and Nélida Santos, Sales Manager Nutrition at Lehvoss, were respectively in charge of presenting the history and evolution of nutricosmetics from its beginnings to the present, reviewing the different formats that can be found in the market and to analyze the most used active ingredients in this category, as well as the functions of each of them.

Cristina Jodar, Head of Market Research at AINIA, presented the results of an interesting market study recently carried out with a sample of more than 700 consumers, which served to extract insights about the nutricosmetics market and reveal its strong points. and weak in this category from the point of view of consumers.

Legislation and claims issues were also discussed. The person in charge of presenting the legal framework and the emerging risks in terms of claims was Josep Mª Ferrer, Head of the Food Law Department at AINIA.

The presentations ended with the presentation of Lidia Tomás, R&D Project Manager in Cellular Bioassays at AINIA, on how to support nutricosmetic claims through scientific evidence.

To finish, the day closed with an interesting round table in which Abili Falcó, CEO at BiorganicPharma, Pedro Arenas, CIO at HiHUB, and Fidel Delgado, co-CEO at Neoalgae participated, and from which the conclusion was drawn that, despite the limitations that there is by the administration and current legislation, nutricosmetics is a booming category, with results backed by scientific studies, which presents many business opportunities for the sector.
