Barcelona, May 12, 2022. During the day of yesterday the great Master Perfumer Rosendo Mateu has left. Rosendo Mateu was one of the few great master perfumers in our country. During 40 years of professional activity at Puig he developed some of the most iconic perfumes in the sector. In 2017 he was going to decide to undertake and create his own signature perfumery with his son Juan.
Always open to collaborating and giving back to the sector a part of what it had given to him, in this new stage he promoted his collaboration with associations and non-profit entities. He has been a member of the jury of the International New Roses Contest of Barcelona, a member of the Beauty Cluster Advisory Council since 2018 and president of the jury of the International Perfumery Contest – Mouillette d’Argent since it also began in 2018. In 2016 he was also , the institutional figure who opened the first edition of the Barcelona Perfumery Congress and has been a member of the jury for the Best Signature Perfumery Award, within the framework of the Perfumery of the Year Awards organized by BeautyProf and Selectivo. Subsequently, Rosendo Mateu received other recognitions such as the appointment as academician of the Perfume Academy in 2021.
He also always stood out for his passion for sharing knowledge. He was one of the trainers of the first specialized course in perfumery that was launched in 2022 by the Beauty Cluster, Beauty Business School and IQS.
His loss leaves a huge void in the perfumery industry and, especially, among his family, relatives and those who day after day have been able to enjoy his company and perfumery wisdom. All of them will give him a final goodbye next Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Mataró funeral home.
