- Beauty Cluster, which groups together more than 200 companies of the beauty sector, has held the 2020 Ordinary General Assembly online.
- During the Assembly, the positive closure of 2019 financial year and the actions and activities of 2020 were presented, highlighting the activity of the cluster during the confinement to support the sector.
- Álex Vallbona, director general of Birchbox in Europa, has been appointed president and Eva Lluch, CEO of Lluch Essence, and Elena Grau, CEO of EG Active Cosmetics, vice president. Justo Peydro Aznar, CEO of Laboratorios RNB, has joined the Board as a member.
- Durante the Assembly, the projects and aims planned for 2021, related to innovation, internationalization, interconnection and training in the sector, were announced.
Barcelona, September 17, 2020. Beauty Cluster, an entity founded in 2014 and which groups together 200 Spanish companies in the beauty value chain, has held its 2020 Ordinary General Assembly.
During the Assembly, the results of more than 80 activities in 2019, the different ongoing projects and the actions done and planned have been presented. Among the shared projects stands out the portfolio of training courses launched and planned by the formative entity of the cluster (Beauty Business School), the news phases of the business marketplace launched this year, the consolidation of the cluster digitalization process started in 2019 and the internationalization of activities such as the Beauty Innovation Days or the Barcelona Olfaction Week.
During the day, Álex Vallbona, general director of Birchbox in Europa, was appointed as president picking up the witness from Elena Grau (EG Active Cosmetics), who was appointed as vice president. Eva Lluch, CEO of Lluch Essence, was appointed as vice president. The incorporation to the Board, as a member, of Justo Peydro Aznar, CEO of Laboratorios RNB, was alsos announced.
The presentation of the activity and the next steps of the international network of clusters Global Cosmetics Cluster, of which the Beauty Cluster Barcelona is a founding entity and member of the Governing Board, was highlighted. Thanks to the economical support of the European Comission (EASME – Executive Agency for SMEs), it will allow the cluster to access to funds to support SMEs of the sector to export in collaboration with other associations in France, Portugal, Italy, Turkey and Romania.
Likewise, in addition to reviewing the activities done in 2020, the actions undertaken within the confinement framework have been highlighted. During it, BCB made more than 40 online activities to keep the beauty industry connected, informed and active. More than 6.000 people participated in these activities.
The cluster grew a 25% in 2019 in number of members and accumulated a 15% growth in 2020. Since its foundation in 2014, the Beauty Cluster has accumulated an average annual growth of 40% in number of members and economic volume.
