1. Name, Position, and Company
Carles Puig Martí – Product Manager Cosmetics – Emsa Tecnología Química
2. Tell us about the company you work for. What is its history?
Emsa Tecnología Química is a company with over 40 years of experience in the distribution of chemical raw materials. Over this time, we have evolved alongside the industry, moving from a more general distribution approach to one increasingly focused on chemical specialties and higher value-added technical solutions.
Within this evolution, cosmetics is one of the strategic sectors that EMSA has chosen to invest in, developing a specific unit that I have the privilege of leading.
At Emsa, we are defined by a very clear idea: closeness to the client and commitment to responsible chemistry. Our goal is to provide high-quality ingredients and technical solutions that help our clients innovate, always under our purpose: to practice committed chemistry.
3. What does your daily work at the company involve?
My daily work moves between two worlds that must be perfectly connected.
On one hand, I work with international manufacturers to deeply understand the origin, quality, and traceability of raw materials. On the other hand, I collaborate closely with laboratories and formulators to ensure that these ingredients truly work in their developments.
It is a fairly complete management process: from technical and regulatory validation of an ingredient to advising on market trends in a constantly evolving sector.
4. What differentiates you?
At Emsa, we like to work very close to the client. We don’t just distribute raw materials: we accompany the formulator to find real solutions.
Our differential value lies in combining agility, technical knowledge, and transparency. We analyze every need in detail to propose viable, safe, and competitive solutions.
In short, we aim to be a technical partner that clients can trust when a formulation challenge arises.
5. What challenges do you think you will face in the coming years?
The challenge is not only in the future but also in the present. Consumers are increasingly informed, demanding, and aware of the impact of the products they use.
This is added to regulatory changes and the need to advance towards more sustainable solutions.
The challenge will be to continue developing responsible ingredients and solutions without compromising something fundamental in cosmetics: effectiveness and sensory experience.
6. What does being part of the Beauty Cluster bring to you as an entity and as a professional?
Being part of the Beauty Cluster places us at the center of the sector’s ecosystem.
As a company, it allows us to stay connected with the entire value chain. At a professional level, it is an excellent way to stay up to date on trends, regulatory updates, and technical developments.
Moreover, it provides something very valuable: sharing real challenges with other professionals in the sector and learning from this interaction.
7. Going back to you. How did you enter the beauty sector?
I was attracted by the fact that it is a sector that is part of our daily lives.
Working in cosmetics means combining everyday impact with high technical demands. It is a very dynamic sector that forces you to continuously learn and always maintain curiosity for innovation.
8. Speaking of “beauty,” how would you define it?
Beauty is a concept that is difficult to capture in a single definition.
For me, it is more about authenticity and balance than perfection. It is the glow that appears when a person feels good about themselves and the way they take care of themselves.
When there is coherence between how we live, how we care for ourselves, and how we feel, that confidence is projected naturally. And that is where true beauty appears.
9. Any hobby, superpower, or hidden passion you would like to share?
One of my hobbies is swimming. I find it one of the most complete sports there is.
This combination of physical effort and consistency helps me disconnect and organize my mind. It is my moment to reset and return to daily life with more focus.
10. What is the last book you read or movie you watched?
I recently read “And Then There Were None” by Agatha Christie, a classic I had pending.
I really liked how it maintains tension throughout the story. It’s one of those books that hooks you and makes you try to solve the mystery before reaching the end.
11. Business is based on…
For me, business is based on real involvement and trust.
Behind every email or project, there are people looking for solutions. When you understand that, you stop being just another supplier and become someone they can rely on.
Fulfilling your promises, being transparent, and treating the client’s challenges as your own is what truly builds long-term relationships.
