Meet Aleix Triana, CEO of Industrias Plásticas Triana

Name, position, and company
Aleix Triana, CEO of Industrias Plásticas Triana

Tell us about the company you work for. What is its history?
Triana is a family-owned company with over 60 years of experience in the design and manufacturing of plastic packaging and sanitary products for the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic sectors.

The company was founded in 1963 when my grandparents Fèlix Triana and Maria Rosa—he a plastic injection specialist, she with experience in administration and commerce—started their project in a small workshop in the Sant Andreu neighborhood of Barcelona. At that time, plastic was beginning to replace glass in the pharmaceutical sector, and they seized the opportunity to manufacture tubes, caps, and boxes for medicines.

What does your day-to-day role involve?
My work focuses on ensuring the company moves in the right direction. This includes making strategic decisions, coordinating departments, and ensuring everyone works towards the same goals.

I am also directly involved in business development across our various areas. I dedicate time to analyzing opportunities, exploring new markets, driving innovation projects, and strengthening relationships with clients and partners.

What differentiates your company?
We offer a specialized and flexible service, adaptable to each client’s needs, from custom developments to standard products. We can manage the entire process, from design to manufacturing and printing, ensuring traceability and speed, particularly for SMEs.

Additionally, we operate a certified ISO 7 cleanroom and hold ISO 13485 certification, which sets us apart in the sanitary and pharmaceutical sector. Recently, we have also obtained UNE-EN 15343 certification, guaranteeing traceability and management of plastics in our processes, alongside ISCC Plus certification, which certifies the use of sustainable raw materials.

What challenges do you foresee in the coming years?
The plastics sector is often unfairly scrutinized regarding sustainability. We strive to change this perception through concrete actions, such as increasing the use of recycled and sustainable materials, and implementing more efficient, environmentally friendly processes.

What does being part of the Beauty Cluster bring to you and the company?
It allows us to connect with a network of leading companies in the cosmetic sector, providing access to trends, knowledge, and collaboration opportunities. For me personally, it offers continuous learning and growth, understanding the sector firsthand and interacting with experienced professionals in complementary areas.

How did you get into the beauty sector?
My entry into the beauty sector was a natural evolution within the company’s history. For many years, our containers for powders and granules were used by cosmetic brands for talc, which allowed us to start working in this sector.

In 2017, we decided to take a step further and launch a new range of containers specifically designed for creams and masks, developing three jars of 98 mm diameter in three different heights, with capacities of 300, 400, and 500 ml.

Today, this line has evolved significantly. We currently have six models made in PET and r-PET, plus three models in PP, and we are testing new formats to meet market needs.

Speaking of “beauty,” how would you define it?
That which generates admiration and/or visual pleasure.

Any hobbies, hidden superpowers, or passions?
Spending time with my loved ones.

The last book you read or movie you watched?
A book: The Summer Without Men by Siri Hustvedt.
