24 SEP | The Digital Beauty Awards gala held at Barcelona

Barcelona, September 24, 2021. The first edition of the Digital Beauty Awards (DBA), promoted by the Beauty Cluster , the largest Spanish cosmetics, perfumery and personal care cluster, has awarded the best companies, professionals and initiatives in digitization and e-commerce in Spain in the sector. After receiving 240 applications, from which an expert jury selected the best six for each of the ten categories, the winners were finally known yesterday. The recognition gala took place at La Casa Milà in Barcelona (La Pedrera) and which Mr. Raül Blanco attended, Secretary General for Industry and SMEs of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce.

The event, which could be followed nationally and internationally by streaming, recognized the great work in innovation, digitization and electronic commerce in the sector. “Thanks to these awards we have discovered success stories, technological innovations and reference experts to whom we have given the recognition and visibility they deserve so that the industry can be inspired by the best” says Ivan Borrego, director of the DBA and general manager of Beauty Cluster.

Eva Lluch, president of the Beauty Cluster and CEO at Lluch Essence, points out that “from the Beauty Cluster we have always opted for the digital transformation of the sector. Now, in addition, we have selflessly promoted these awards to be able to recognize the companies that have bravely opted for digitization, electronic commerce or technological innovation.”

Puig, Freshly and Bella Aurora Labs the great highlights

Freshly Cosmetics was twice awarded as the best digital brand and the best Ecommerce. Miquel Antolín, CEO and co-founder, picked up the award and encouraged “companies to undertake to enrich the sector.” Freshly landed in cosmetics just 5 years ago and has already become a benchmark in the market with a turnover of more than 55 million euros.

Puig won two awards in the same category, in the digital innovation. The winner was Ai.Lice, the system to discover perfumes without touching them and received the award Camila Tomás, Vice President Innovation & Technology, who explained that “it has been a great difficulty and at the same time a great challenge for Puig to develop this new way of buy perfumes in times of coronavirus ”. The second award went to Wikiparfum, the brand’s free tool that helps to better understand perfume through knowing its ingredients. The award for the best digital startup also went to Airparfum Timeless (Puig) and thus the great one in the Spanish cosmetics and perfume industry won three awards in two categories.

In the category of best digital directive, Irma Ugarte (Sephora / LVMH) was the winner who, although she could not attend the delivery in person because she was in Miami, she felt very proud of “directing the sale of experiences and not the sale of products, like Sephora does she nodded telematically from Miami. Sara Werner, CEO of Cocunat emerged as third.

The best digital marketing campaign went to Cantabria Labs and Bella Aurora Labs won the award for the best launch of a new Ecommerce launched in times of pandemic in addition to two other second prizes. Anna Mercadé, Digital Business & Digital Marketing Director, received the award showing great satisfaction that “the brand has been able to build new bridges with the consumer thanks to technology.” Dermofarm was recognized as the best digital transformation project. Jennifer Verhelle, Brand Director, excitedly explained how the company was challenged to reinvent itself and “to make the customer fall in love without seeing or touching him.”

The best professional outreach categories the highest merit went to Gema Herrerías who thanked for the recognition and “to all the people who support accurate information and value beauty” and to Marta Masi’s team as the best influencer.
