Barcelona, January 24, 2026. Beauty Cluster took part in the fourth edition of Cosmetica North Africa following a formal invitation from the event organizers, with the aim of first-hand analysis of the potential of the Algerian market for the beauty industry. The visit highlighted the country’s ongoing transformation and its growing attractiveness as a strategic hub for companies across the entire value chain.
The scouting mission, led by Cristina Jialing, took place from January 21 to 24 at the Palais des Expositions d’Alger (SAFEX), where the trade fair brought together more than 250 exhibitors from 17 countries and exceeded 45,000 professional visitors, consolidating its position as the leading B2B cosmetics event in North Africa.
A key event for the beauty industry in the Maghreb
With more than 17,000 m² of exhibition space, Cosmetica North Africa stands out for its comprehensive approach, bringing together ingredient and raw material suppliers, machinery manufacturers, packaging companies, hair care brands and finished product manufacturers in a single venue.
The visitor profile includes local manufacturers seeking technology and supplies, African distributors and wholesalers, owners of beauty salons, perfumeries and pharmacies, as well as exporters who identify Algeria as a strategic logistics hub for access to other markets across the continent.
Algeria, a transitioning market with opportunities for Spanish industry
During the visit, Beauty Cluster observed that Algeria is undergoing a transition toward a model of greater industrial self-sufficiency. Current public policies prioritize national production and limit imports of finished products, driving the professionalization of the local industry.
This context opens up significant opportunities for international companies, particularly in the supply of raw materials, packaging solutions and third-party manufacturing services. The demand for partners providing technology, know-how and international standards positions Spanish industry as a strategic ally for the development of the Algerian cosmetics sector.
Main trends identified
The analysis carried out during the trade fair made it possible to identify several key trends that will shape the market’s evolution in the region:
- Strong commitment to natural cosmetics, with widespread positioning around plant-based origins and 100% natural or organic proposals.
- Growing interest in sensory innovation, with disruptive textures, eye-catching formats and aesthetics inspired by the 2000s.
- Predominance of sweet, comforting fragrances, with gourmand notes such as cotton candy or caramel.
- Clear focus on Generation Z, through vibrant visual, digital and aesthetic communication.
- Development of cross-category brands under the “total care” concept, integrating skincare, body care and hair care.
- High demand for family-size formats, especially in hygiene and body care.
- Growth of the dietary supplementation segment linked to health and beauty.
- Notable dynamism in professional hair care and men’s barbering.
Presence of companies from the Beauty Cluster ecosystem
The trade fair also featured the participation of several companies from the Beauty Cluster ecosystem, such as BASF, Carinsa, CPL Aromas, Fragrance Science, Iberchem and Ravetllat Fragrances, reinforcing the relevance of the Algerian market for Spanish industry and its international projection potential.
A turning point for international expansion
Beauty Cluster’s participation in Cosmetica North Africa confirms that Algeria is at a turning point in the development of its cosmetics industry. The shift from an import-based model to one focused on local production opens new collaboration opportunities for Spanish companies, which can add value through their experience, technological capabilities and regulatory compliance.
Beyond its domestic consumption potential, Algeria is positioning itself as a strategic platform for expansion into Sub-Saharan Africa, consolidating its role as a priority market within Beauty Cluster’s internationalization strategy.
