In the Arab world, business is conducted on the basis of personal relationships and mutual trust. Therefore, it is extremely important to create a climate of trust. To get to this point we need to understand and respect their main values and expectations, be aware of the role of religion in everyday life, how tradition and modernity mix, how to prepare a meeting and negotiate, how to manage time, if we should express or not our feelings or whether the communication should be direct or more subtle.
In this session you will acquire the knowledge necessary to establish a good personal and business relationship with UAE entrepreneurs to build positive bridges.

Javier Albarracin | Fundador & director of Barcelona Servicios Halal.
With a Degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). Master’s Degree in International Relations of the Middle East (UAB). After working in the Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Istanbul, he has been responsible for more than 9 years at ACCIÓ (Agency for the Internationalization and Competitiveness of the Catalan Economy) for the North African and Middle Eastern markets. He is director of socio economic development of the specialized think tank European Institute of the Mediterranean for 10 years. Since 2017 he has been a consultant specialized in Muslim markets and consumers, creating its own consultancy company Barcelona Halal Services. He works for clients such as Fira de Barcelona (Alimentària, Fòrum Gastronomic…), the Department of Agriculture of the Government of Catalonia – PRODECA and develops projects in this field for several private companies. He is professor at Universitat Blanquerna, CETT-UB, UAB and the Barcelona Executive Business School on business opportunities of the Muslim consumers and its business culture. He has been a trainer on Arab/Muslim business culture for multinationals such as AENA, KingEclient, Roca or COFME as well as for SMEs and relevant business associations, clusters and public institutions.
